In Loving Memory of Sharon Benjamin
June 24, 1947 – May 8, 2025
Sharon Benjamin was a dedicated special education teacher in the St. Vrain Valley School District, leaving an indelible mark on Sunset Middle School, Prairie Ridge Elementary School, and Hygiene Elementary School. Her unwavering compassion and advocacy for students and families, coupled with her mentorship to colleagues, made her a beloved figure in the educational community. During her time teaching, she was Seth's elementary school teacher and had a big impact on Seth's life.
Beyond her professional commitments, Sharon was deeply involved in volunteer work throughout the Longmont community, embodying the spirit of service and kindness.
One organization that resonated with Sharon's values was Joy House, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering adults with developmental disabilities through creative expression and community engagement. Sharon had the opportunity to visit The Best Day Ever Coffee and Crepes during its opening week, a venture that provides meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In her final days, Sharon expressed a desire for donations to be made to Joy House in lieu of flowers, reflecting her commitment to supporting this cause.
To honor Sharon's legacy, donations can be made to Joy House, supporting their initiatives that continue her work of advocacy and service.
